Trio Picea performs a pair of piano trios in their debut concert. The first half features Beethoven's "Ghost" Trio, one of his great works for the ensemble. The second half features the rare and remarkable Piano Trio of Mieczyslaw Weinberg, a composer of Polish-Jewish origin who fled the Holocaust to the USSR and became a close friend and colleague of Shostakovich.
Trio Picea is the coming together of three friends, Eric Alterman, pianist Asya Gulua, and violinist Nelly Kovalev, who have developed their musical friendship over the years collaborating on concerts throughout Oregon. They share an enthusiasm for performing both beloved favorites and hidden gems that span the eras of classical music. They perform frequently in their home cities of Eugene, Salem, and Portland, and throughout the state.
